Flow, pressure and temperature are important parameters in measurement technology. The Vortex flow sensors offer a reliable way to measure flow in industrial plants. The sensors consist of a completely encapsulated piezoceramic sensor that detects vortex formation. The nominal sizes DN 15, DN 20, DN 25, DN 32 and DN 40 and the integrated temperature sensor make the sensors versatile. Mounting is possible without tools thanks to the process connection either by thread or QuickFasten.

In large heat pumps and industrial plants, a Kármán vortex street forms in the flow behind a flow-around disturbance body. The vortices detach themselves at the edges of the disturbance body and generate counter-rotating and mutually offset vortices. The distance between the individual vortices is constant. The frequency at which the vortices flow past a sensor depends on the flow velocity and is proportional to the flow rate. The transducer detects the vortices, which are converted into an electrical frequency signal.

The advantages of this measuring principle are numerous, including an almost free pipe cross-section, low pressure loss and high stability over a long period of time. The sensors are independent of the conductivity of the medium and offer a wide range of applications in terms of pressure, temperature and density.

Our vortex flow sensors of the VVX series are particularly powerful and convince by their durability and performance. Due to the measuring principle without moving parts, mechanical wear is avoided. The sensors are made of sturdy, fiberglass-reinforced plastic or versions in brass or stainless steel, and the completely encapsulated piezoceramic sensor for detecting the vortices guarantees no direct contact with the medium. The measuring span is 1:21 and analog signals and/or a pulse signal for flow and a resistance or analog signal for temperature are available. The sensors are also interference resistant and can be mounted either by threaded connection or QuickFasten.
