The recent heat waves of 2022, 2025, and 2026 have made it clear that water scarcity is a serious issue here as well. Authorities are therefore urging the public to use drinking water spare. It is recommended to avoid washing cars, watering gardens, or filling pools whenever possible. In some cantons, specific bans have even been imposed.

What is often overlooked is that conventional water softeners are among the biggest water consumers in the household.
