With the Humimeter wood chips moisture transmitter for online wood chips moisture measurement, an online water content determination of wood chips or other materials is very easy to perform.
The Humimeter wood chip moisture transmitter for online wood chip moisture measurement can also be integrated into existing systems very easily. With these systems you can optimally control your dryer, boiler or plant with regard to the water content. Thus the efficiency of your boiler can be increased or the energy consumption for drying can be reduced, your plant can work more efficiently and thus a product with better quality can be produced. The connection to a control system is feasible by means of a 4-20mA analog output.
Since the Humimeter wood chip moisture transmitter for online wood chip moisture measurement is already calibrated, commissioning can be carried out without great effort.

For water content determination of wood chips and other materials, for direct installation in the screw conveyor.

Performance features
Installation instructions for wood chip moisture transmitter (Art. No. 12199)
Precondition:
During the measurement, it must be ensured that the two stainless metal surfaces of the sensor are in constant contact with the product (chopped material). For a correct measurement result, the product must exert a pressure of at least 20 N/dm² on the sensor surfaces.
The material that is in direct contact with the sensor surfaces is measured. No electrically conductive materials may be in contact with the sensor surfaces.
Possible installation locations:
- Screw conveyor: installation at the bottom of the trough
-Feed channel with hydraulic ram: Installation on the side wall
- Hopper: Installation on the side wall (in order to achieve the minimum pressure, the sensor may have to be installed at an angle).
Electrical connection:
The wood chip moisture transmitter shall be supplied with 24 VDC (15 to 29VDC). The measurement result is supplied via an analog 4-20mA current output. A connector with open cable ends for the power supply and analog output is included.
Measuring principle:
The wood chip moisture transmitter operates according to a special conductivity measuring principle developed by Schaller GmbH. This measuring principle is based on the fact that the electrical conductivity of a porous
changes as a function of the moisture content of a porous material. In dry material, the electrical conductivity is lower than in wet material. The electronic evaluation system converts the measured
The evaluation electronics convert the measured conductivity value into weight percentages and show these on the display as water content.
Note for installation after a dryer:
After the dryer, the material to be measured (wood chips) is much drier on the outside than in the core. This means that if the material is installed directly after the dryer, the measurement results will be
obtained. The specified minimum measuring range of 10% water content (for wood chips) will not be possible, the measuring range limit will be higher.
