SIKA flow switches are used in a variety of applications and are designed to monitor flow rates. Depending on the application, they are available for various nominal diameters and switching point ranges and, thanks to their modular design, can be adapted to the specific requirements of a wide range of applications. The wide temperature and pressure ranges, as well as the choice of different materials and connection options, offer a high degree of flexibility.
The flow switches consist of a paddle system with a permanent magnet at the upper end. A reed contact is positioned above this magnet outside the flow. A second magnet generates the necessary restoring force for the paddle. When the flow to be monitored hits the paddle system, it is deflected. This causes the magnet to change its position in relation to the reed contact, which is then actuated. As soon as the flow is interrupted, the paddle moves back to its starting position and actuates the reed contact again. The necessary restoring force is generated by the two magnets repelling each other. Compared to conventional leaf springs, the use of magnetic force results in greater long-term stability and increased insensitivity to pressure peaks.
