SIKA flow switches are used to monitor volumetric flows and are available for various nominal sizes and switching point ranges, which can be adapted for a wide range of applications depending on requirements. With the "modular principle", the product variants and options can be flexibly combined to cover wide temperature and pressure ranges as well as a large selection of materials and connection options. SIKA flow switches are therefore used in many areas, including heating technology, industrial cooling circuits, water treatment and drinking water applications.
The flow switch operates with a paddle system, at the upper end of which is a permanent magnet, above which is a reed contact outside the flow channel. A second magnet generates a restoring force for the paddle. When the flow hits the paddle system, it is deflected and the magnet changes position to the reed contact, actuating it. As soon as the flow is interrupted, the paddle returns to its initial position and actuates the reed contact again. The restoring force is generated by the two repulsing magnets. By utilizing the magnetic force instead of a conventional leaf spring, the flow switch exhibits greater long-term stability and insensitivity to pressure spikes.
