SIKA flow switches are used to monitor the volume flow in pipelines. They are available in various nominal sizes and switching point ranges and can be adapted to different requirements thanks to the modular principle. Their flexibility is increased by the wide temperature and pressure ranges, the choice of materials and the various connection options. For this reason, SIKA flow switches are used in many areas, such as heating technology, industrial cooling circuits, water treatment and drinking water applications.
The flow switch consists of a paddle system with a permanent magnet at the upper end. A reed contact is located above this magnet outside the flow. A second magnet generates a restoring force for the paddle. When the flow hits the paddle system, it is deflected and the magnet changes its position in relation to the reed contact, actuating it. As soon as the flow is interrupted, the paddle returns to its starting position and actuates the reed contact again. The required restoring force is generated by the repelling magnets.
By using magnets instead of conventional leaf springs, the flow switch offers greater long-term stability and is much less sensitive to pressure peaks.
