SIKA flow switches are used to monitor volume flows and are available in various nominal sizes and switching point ranges. Thanks to the modular principle, the product variants and options can be individually adapted to a wide range of applications. SIKA flow switches are characterized by their high flexibility, which is provided by the wide temperature and pressure ranges as well as the choice of materials and various connection options. They are therefore used in many areas, including heating technology, industrial cooling circuits, water treatment and drinking water applications.
The flow switch consists of a paddle system with a permanent magnet at the upper end and a reed contact outside the flow above this magnet. A second magnet generates a restoring force for the paddle. When the flow to be monitored hits the paddle system, it is deflected, thereby changing the position of the magnet in relation to the reed contact, which is thus actuated. As soon as the flow is interrupted, the paddle moves back to its original position and actuates the reed contact again. The restoring force is generated by the two magnets repelling each other. By using the magnetic force instead of a conventional leaf spring, the SIKA flow switch has a significantly higher long-term stability and insensitivity to pressure peaks.
