Operating instructions for SIKA turbine flow sensor type VT40 - Turbine flow sensor with threaded connection

The SIKA VT40 turbine flow sensor is specially designed for use in HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and industrial applications. It measures the flow of water and water-based mixtures and can be used in a wide range of applications. The VT40 offers flow measurement in the range of 6.7...417 l/min and can be operated with nominal diameters up to DN 40 and a nominal pressure of up to 50 bar.

Areas of application:

The SIKA VT40 is suitable for various industrial applications, including:

  • Monitoring of cooling circuits in machinery and plant engineering
  • Water treatment
  • Cleaning processes
  • Dosing applications

Mode of operation:

The inflowing fluid is divided into several partial flows by the guide vanes of the turbine flow sensor, which hit the impeller from different directions and cause it to rotate. The rotational speed of the impeller is converted into an electrical pulse signal.

  • Magnetic impeller: The rotor of the sensor is magnetized and its rotation is detected by a Hall effect sensor.
  • Output signal: The output signal is a frequency-proportional square-wave signal that is directly proportional to the flow rate.
  • Low start-up values: Due to the special geometry of the guide vanes and the impeller, the sensor achieves very low start-up values, which makes it suitable for precise measurements at low flow rates.

Main features:

  • Flow range: 6.7...417 l/min
  • Nominal diameter: DN 40
  • Nominal pressure: Up to 50 bar
  • Measuring principle: Turbine with Hall effect sensor for measuring rotor rotation
  • Output signal: Frequency-proportional square-wave signal that is proportional to the flow rate

Advantages:

  • Robust design: The VT40 is specially designed for industrial applications where high pressures and different water compositions require precise measurement.
  • Reliable measurement: Thanks to the magnetic detection of the rotor via a Hall sensor, the VT40 offers accurate and repeatable flow measurement.
  • Flexible application: The versatility of the sensor allows it to be used in various areas, from coolant monitoring to water treatment and dosing.

Material:

The SIKA VT40 is made of robust materials that are suitable for industrial environments and guarantee a long service life.

Technical data:
