Operating instructions for SIKA turbine flow sensor type VTY10 K - Turbine flow sensor with QuickFasten connection

The SIKA VTY10 K turbine flow sensor was specially developed for HVAC applications (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and is particularly suitable for use in drinking water applications. With a flow range of 1 to 30 l/min and a nominal diameter of DN 10, the VTY10 K offers high measuring accuracy and an extremely long service life thanks to its high-quality bearings. The plastic version with QuickFasten connection is particularly space-saving and easy to install.

Areas of application:

The VTY10 K turbine flow sensor is designedfor drinking water applications and standard applications.Typical areas of application are

  • Measurement of drinking water discharge at taps
  • Monitoring water flows in HVAC systems
  • Industrial and commercial water treatment

Mode of operation:

The liquid flowing into the turbine flow sensor is divided into partial flows by a perforated disk. These partial flows hit the rotor evenly, causing it to rotate. The rotational speed of the rotor is converted into an electrical pulse signal (frequency).

  • Rotor with magnets: The rotor is equipped with magnets and the rotary movement is detected by a Hall effect sensor, which generates a frequency signal proportional to the flow rate (square wave signal).
  • Uniform inflow: The uniform inflow to the bearings minimizes the forces acting on the rotor and thus reduces wear to a minimum.
  • Bearings made from high-quality materials: The extremely hard bearing materials, such as sapphire and carbide, guarantee an exceptionally long service life.

Main features:

  • Flow range: 1...30 l/min
  • Nominal diameter: DN 10
  • Material: Plastic version for HVAC applications
  • Measuring principle: Turbine with Hall effect sensor for converting the rotor rotation into a frequency signal
  • Frequency output: Frequency-proportional square wave signal
  • Pressure shock resistance: Insensitive to pressure shocks

Advantages:

  • Long service life: Thanks to the use of high-quality bearings such as sapphire and carbide, the sensor is extremely durable and low-maintenance.
  • Fixed pulse rate: The sensor offers a fixed pulse rate, which minimizes series dispersion and ensures high reproducibility of the measured values.
  • High measuring accuracy: Thanks to the integrated flow straighteners, the measuring accuracy remains largely independent of the installation position.
  • Versatile connection options: The sensor is available with a variety of connection options, including 90 mm single wires with Molex Mini-Fit® Jr. connector or 115 mm single wires.
  • Pressure shock insensitivity: The sensor is pressure shock resistant, which makes it reliable for use in a wide variety of systems.

Materials:

  • Bearings: Sapphire and carbide, for minimal wear and a very long service life.
  • Plastic housing: Specially developed for drinking water applications.

Technical data:

  • Flow range: 1...30 l/min
  • Nominal diameter: DN 10
  • Measuring principle: Turbine with Hall effect sensor
  • Output signal: square wave signal, proportional to the flow rate
  • Connection options: 90 mm single wires with Molex Mini-Fit® Jr. connector or 115 mm single wires

Summary:

The SIKA VTY10 K turbine flow sensor offers a precise and reliable solution for flow measurement in drinking water applications and HVAC systems. With its fixed pulse rate, high measurement accuracy and durable design, it is particularly well suited for use in large-scale applications.
