Type VTY20 Cartridge turbine flow sensors Cartridge for drinking water application 1 ...60 l/min DN 20

Low series dispersion, fixed pulse rate / High measuring accuracy / Low wear and extremely long service life due to high-quality bearings / Compact dimensions, proven in numerous large-scale applications

Description

The VTY20 series plug-in flow sensors have been specially developed for use in fittings and enable particularly simple and space-saving integration into existing systems. Thanks to their compact design, these sensors are ideal for applications where reliable measurement of water flow is required.

Typical areas of application for these turbine flow sensors include:

  • Detection of drinking water withdrawals

  • Water treatment systems

  • Leakage monitoring in water circuits

The plug-in flow sensor consists of two central components: a turbine insert and a Hall effect sensor. This design enables a particularly compact construction and facilitates installation in a wide variety of fittings. A high-quality sapphire bearing ensures high reliability and a long service life for the measuring system. Thanks to the low start-up speed, even small flow rates of around 1 liter per minute can be measured reliably.

Key features

  • Very low series dispersion at constant pulse rate

  • High precision in flow measurement

  • Minimal wear and tear and long service life thanks to high-quality bearing technology

  • Compact design for easy integration

  • Proven in numerous industrial series applications

The fluid flowing through the sensor is first divided into several partial flows by a special guide vane. These flows strike the impeller evenly from different directions and set it in rotation. The rotational movement of the turbine wheel is then converted into an electrical signal.

The magnetically equipped impeller is detected by a Hall effect sensor. This generates a flow-proportional frequency signal (square wave signal) that can be used for further evaluation.

The uniform flow pattern largely compensates for mechanical forces on the bearings. This reduces wear to a minimum. In addition, particularly robust materials such as sapphire and carbide ensure an exceptionally long service life for the sensor—even when used continuously in technical applications.
