Operating instructions for SIKA turbine flow sensor type VTY20 MS - Turbine flow sensor with threaded connection
The SIKA VTY20 MS turbine flow sensor was specially developed for drinking water and industrial applications and offers precise flow measurements in the range from 1 to 60 l/min. With a nominal diameter of DN 20 and a brass version for use in HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and industrial applications, the VTY20 MS is characterized by a long service life, low wear and high measuring accuracy.
Areas of application:
The VTY20 MS is ideal for use in drinking water series applications and is often used to measure drinking water delivery. Typical applications include:
- Measurement of drinking water quantities at taps
- Monitoring of water systems in HVAC and industrial applications
- Water treatment and dosing
Mode of operation:
The incoming liquid is divided into partial flows by a perforated disk, which hit the rotor evenly and cause it to rotate. The rotor, which is equipped with magnets, is detected by a Hall effect sensor that converts the rotation into a frequency signal (square wave signal) proportional to the flow rate.
- Hall effect sensor: The sensor detects the rotational movement of the rotor and converts it into an electrical pulse signal that is proportional to the flow rate.
- Bearing quality: The high-quality sapphire and carbide bearings guarantee an extremely long service life and minimize wear due to the even flow.
Main features:
- Flow range: 1...60 l/min
- Nominal diameter: DN 20
- Material: Brass for HVAC and industrial applications
- Measuring principle: Turbine with Hall effect sensor for converting the rotor rotation into a frequency signal
- Frequency output: Frequency-proportional square wave signal
- Pressure shock resistance: The sensor is pressure shock resistant, which makes it ideal for industrial applications.
Advantages:
- Long service life and low wear: Thanks to the use of high-quality bearing materials such as sapphire and carbide, the sensor remains low-maintenance and wear-free for years.
- Fixed pulse rate: The sensor offers minimal series dispersion due to the fixed pulse rate, which makes it particularly reliable in large-volume applications.
- Wide measuring range: With a measuring range of up to 1:60, the sensor is suitable for a wide range of applications.
- High measuring accuracy: Thanks to the integrated flow straighteners, the measuring accuracy remains independent of the installation position.
- Pressure shock resistant: The sensor is insensitive to pressure shocks, making it ideal for applications in dynamic systems.
Materials:
- Housing: Robust brass, suitable for drinking water and HVAC applications.
- Bearings: High-quality materials such as sapphire and carbide, which ensure an extremely long service life and minimal wear.
Technical data:
- Flow range: 1...60 l/min
- Nominal diameter: DN 20
