Operating instructions for SIKA gear wheel flow sensor type VZ VA - Gear wheel flow sensor with threaded connection
The SIKA VZ VA gear flow sensor is a high-precision measuring device for volume flows with high and varying viscosity in a wide range of applications. With a flow range of 0.008 to 250 l/min and a stainless steel housing, the VZ VA offers excellent measurement accuracy and repeatability. It is versatile and is used in consumption measurement, control of filling processes, dosing of oils and chemicals as well as in the collection of paints and varnishes.
Areas of application:
The VZ VA series gear flow sensors are ideal for precise measurements of liquid flows with variable viscosity. Typical applications include:
- Consumption measurement in industrial processes
- Filling process control in production plants
- Dosing of oils and chemicals in the chemical industry
- Measurement and collection of paints and varnishes in the coatings industry
Mode of operation:
The sensor's measuring unit consists of a precisely manufactured pair of gears housed in the casing. The inflowing medium moves the pair of gears and the rotational movement of the gears is detected by non-contact sensors. Each tooth of the gearwheel generates a pulse, which enables a very high resolution and therefore precise measurement of even the smallest volumes.
- Two-channel system: To generate a frequency signal proportional to the flow rate, two sensors are installed in the measuring unit offset by ¼ tooth width. This enables a higher resolution and detection of the flow direction.
- Precise measurement: As each tooth of the gearwheel generates a pulse, the sensor offers high accuracy and repeatability, even with small volume flows.
Main features:
- Flow range: 0.008...250 l/min
- Measuring principle: gear wheel with non-contact detection of the rotational movement
