description SIKA flow switches are used to monitor volume flows. Depending on requirements, they are available in various nominal sizes and with different switching point ranges. Thanks to the modular design principle, the product variants and options can be optimally adapted to a wide range of applications. Wide temperature and pressure ranges, different materials, and numerous connection options enable particularly flexible use. SIKA flow switches are therefore used in many areas, for example in:
-
Heating technology
-
industrial cooling circuits
-
Water treatment
-
Drinking water applications
The flow switch operates with a paddle system, at the upper end of which there is a permanent magnet. Above this magnet, outside the flow, there is a reed contact.
Another magnet generates the restoring force for the paddle. When the medium to be monitored flows against the paddle system, it is deflected. This changes the position of the magnet relative to the reed contact, triggering the switching process. As soon as the flow stops, the paddle moves back to its starting position and actuates the reed contact again. The restoring force required for this is generated by the repulsive effect of the two magnets.
The use of magnetic force instead of a conventional leaf spring ensures significantly higher long-term stability and makes the system much less sensitive to pressure peaks.
