The SIKA VVX G-thread vortex flow sensor is a reliable solution for flow measurement of water in low to medium flow ranges, especially in heating systems. The sensor is available in a robust plastic version and offers maintenance-free measurement as it has no moving parts. With a flow range of 2 to 150 l/min and various nominal widths, the VVX G-thread is suitable for a wide range of applications.
Mode of operation:
Behind a disturbing body around which the water flows, counter-rotating vortices are created, which detach at the edges of the disturbing body and form a so-called Kármán vortex street. The distance between the vortices is constant and the frequency of the vortices depends on the flow velocity, which makes it proportional to the flow rate. The piezoceramic sensor detects these vortices and converts them into an electrical frequency signalthat is used for flow monitoring.
