Description
The VVX32 / VVX40 VA series flow sensors are particularly suitable for the precise measurement of water flows in medium to high flow ranges. Thanks to their robust design, they are frequently used in industrial applications, such as large heat pumps or technical systems.
The measuring principle is based on what is known as vortex measurement. This involves counter-rotating vortices forming behind a body in the flow, which alternately detach from the edges of the body. These vortices form what is known as a Kármán vortex street in the flow.
The distance between the individual vortices remains constant, while the frequency of their occurrence depends on the flow velocity. This means that the vortex frequency is directly proportional to the actual flow rate.
An integrated piezoceramic sensor detects the passing vortices without coming into direct contact with the medium. The detected signals are then converted into a flow-proportional electrical frequency signal that can be used for further processing or control.
Thanks to its wear-free measuring method without moving components, the sensor offers particularly high reliability and a long service life—even when used continuously in industrial environments.
