Description
The VVX32 / VVX40 VA series flow sensors are particularly well-suited for the precise measurement of water flow in medium- to high-flow ranges. Thanks to their robust design, they are frequently used in industrial applications, such as large heat pumps or technical systems.
The measurement principle is based on what is known as vortex measurement. In this process, counter-rotating vortices form behind an obstacle through which a flow passes; these vortices alternately detach from the edges of the obstacle. These vortices form what is known as a Kármán vortex street in the flow.
The distance between the individual vortices remains constant, while the frequency of their occurrence depends on the flow velocity. This means that the vortex frequency is directly proportional to the actual flow rate.
An integrated piezoceramic sensor detects the passing vortices without coming into direct contact with the medium. The detected signals are then converted into a flow-proportional electrical frequency signal that can be used for further processing or control.
Thanks to its wear-free measurement method, which has no moving parts, the sensor offers exceptionally high reliability and a long service life—even when used continuously in industrial environments.
