🧪 What is water activity - and why is it crucial for food?

The water activity (aw value) determines how much freely available water is contained in a food - a key factor for shelf life, safety and quality. The lower the value (scale from 0 to 1), the less of a target for germs, mold and undesirable chemical processes.

Precise moisture measurement with international accreditation

Schaller Messtechnik GmbH, whose products we exclusively distribute at GRUBATEC AG, has been operating an EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited test laboratory for determining the water content and moisture content of variousmaterials since 2016.

The range of services offered by this laboratory was expanded in March 2024 - food and agricultural products are now also included in the accredited range of tests. This makes Schaller one of the few specialized testing laboratories with such a broad range of applications for moisture measurement.
